I'm glad I participated. This was probably the wrong time for me since we went live on MSC during it but when is a good time? It actually gave me a fine excuse to spend some time playing with all these fun applications that I would not have taken without some prompting.
I would glady participate in another training like this. I think there are endless possibilities with the constant creation of new applications. I liked that this was self paced yet needed to be completed by a certain time. The ultimate deadline kept me going. I feel much more up to date now. Thanks for putting this together.

Wikis

I was introduced to Wikis in library school. We used them for group projects such as five of us creating a Collections Management Policy. The wiki site was a perfect for that kind of situation. We could see everyone's changes, additions, etc. There was no hassle of emailing and making sure you had the most up to date version. The Wyoming author wiki was fun to play in. It is a great way to get the word out on something constantly changing. We often consult the Montana book kit one to get ideas for our reading groups. Anytime a group is collaborating on a document/project, this is the way to go.

I am glad I had a chance to actually look at delicious. I've seen passing references to it but have never taken the time to really look. I think I would have to play with it more to answer some of my own questions. I can see how it would clear up the seemily endless amount of bookmarks I have. But then I am also afraid that I would forget what my own tagging was. I like the feature that you have more freedom with word association (for lack of a better term) and can perhaps use that customizing to your advantage. This is something I would consider using in my real life.

You Tube has to be one of the best things on the internet and biggest time waster ever. I love it. Here is one of my all time favorites becasue it reminds me of everyday in the library not just that one special week.

Podcasts - not the whale kind

I like the idea of podcasts. Generally they seem to be to the point and informative or silly depending on what you are looking for. I also like the fact that I can download them to my MP3 player and listen/watch them there. Great use of my travel time, exercise time, etc. The fact that you can RSS most of them so I don't have to rely on my memory is also a plus. I have used book realted podcasts such as those on http://www.barnesandnoble.com/bn-studio/videos-podcasts/index.asp? Barnes and Nobel's site. There are a wide variety of interviews, readings, and other book related things.

Podcasts are a great tool for libraries. We are changing circulation systems which would provide a great opportunity to create an instructional podcast for the patrons. Podcasts of programs, lectures, and just snippets from our sometimes insane days are all foder.

I looked up on my shelf and just put in a sampling of my books. It was interesting to see how many people, or in the case of one of my books, how few people own what I own.

In reality, I don't think I would use this. Maybe if I had free time and an interest in organizing books when I go home...but I don't see that happening.

The only thing I might look at once in awhile is the "what are you reading" forum or I can see using this to see what people think of a book before purchasing it for our library collection.

Here are two shots of the Great Fountain Geyser in Yellowstone park (one linked and one embeded). Eric and I went to Yellowstone this July and for once in our lives had great timing. This geyser is predictable but only does its thing every 12 hours. We happened to arrive about a half hour before it started. I'm glad these people took pictures because I was too excited to operate my camera. Just before it erupts, the geyer does this "blue bubble" thing and floods the area around it. That's what was distracting me from taking my own shots. Anyway.. here is it erupting.

RSS feeds

I already feel smarter. Thanks to Library 2.0 I have now figured out RSS feeds, something I have always wanted to do. We plan to redesign the library webpage soon and this would be a great addition to it.

Lifelong Learning

I just watched the tutorial on lifelong learning. I guess we are lucky in this profession that everday is a learning day.

Of the 71/2 habits the easiest one for me is the first one of beginning with an end in mind. Half the time I don't have a clue how to get there but I know what I want.

The hardest one is Habit 6. This one is the hardest mainly because I don't know what is avalible and then having the time to search around and learn new things.
